Beginner Fencing Classes!
Join us for beginner fencing classes at Maryland's longest running youth fencing program! TriWeapon Fencing Club offers Beginner Classes and classes for experienced fencers in all three weapons for youth and teen athletes (ages 8 - 18) through our youth program.
TriWeapon Fencing has been training fencers since the 1960s and has counted National Champions, National Medalists, International Medalists, Varsity College Fencers, Coaches, and Olympic Team Members amongst its graduates and members. Recent and current TriWeapon fencers have ranked among the top hundred in the country and have held high regional ranking positions, and earned national medals.
Each summer our fencers have the opportunity to train with a current international competitor who competed in the Tokyo Olympics, the Paris Olympics, and who is in the top 100 fencers in the world!
Our beginner class is Tuesdays from 6:00 - 7:30pm. We run a new cycle of beginner each month so you won't have a long wait to get started! The beginner class has an age range of 8 to 18 for youth and teen fencers and any age for adult fencers. Our beginner class athletes and enthusiasts will be introduced to all the basics of fencing including footwork and blade work. Students will have the opportunity to do practice bouts to use the skills they are learning.
The first month of beginner class is our stand-alone trial month. The pricing includes your initial registration. During your first month you will have your Tuesday night class once per week.
In subsequent months of beginner class, the price drops and is paid through a monthly subscription. You continue with the Tuesday night class. You get one additional night of bouting (open practice) one night per week to further hone your skills and meet your more advanced teammates. You'll have a choice between 8pm Wednesday or 8pm Friday.
Our beginner class is $175 for the initial month. We provide loaner equipment. Students will be required to purchase a glove which they will keep. The glove is $13 and can be purchased through us. The monthly subscription for subsequent beginner months is $125/month.

TriWeapon Fencing Club is the youth and teen component of our club, Salle Palasz is our adult club, which serves fencers of all age, skill and interest levels.
Fencers continue in the beginner program until the coach recommends that they are moved to intermediate. Intermediate fencers will have an option for a Competitive or a Recreational membership. Intermediate Fencers may eventually be invited to our advanced programs.
Bring a water bottle. Wear stretchy athletic clothing (t-shirt, gym shorts, long socks) and tennis shoes with a good sole.
These items you will take home with you each week and wash
(no bleach) and bring back with you each week.
We will also loan you a mask, underarm protector and chest protector. Club weapons will be available for use during practice.
The mask will be marked with the student's initials and be
put on a shelf - the student will be the only one using this mask for the duration of their time in beginner.
At the end of the month - you either return the laundry bag of clothes to us - or if you wish to continue we will give you a link to subscribe to continue beginner and you can keep your laundry bag for the next session as well. If not continuing - the uniform pieces will be returned to us at the end of your last class.
We encourage purchasing equipment when moving into the intermediate class. When moving to the intermediate class you will be given resources to help with that transition including a guide to purchasing equipment.
